Illinois release records do not sit in one office. For an IDOC prison record, use the Individual in Custody Search or write to the IDOC FOIA Officer at 1301 Concordia Court, P.O. Box 19277, Springfield, IL 62794-9277. IDOC accepts email at DOC.FOIARequest@illinois.gov, phone inquiries at 217-558-2200 extension 4166, and faxes at 217-558-5612. For a local jail episode, choose the holding county below.
- For a county jail release, open the County Directory and follow that county's official sheriff and records routes.
- For release or discharge fields and request steps, start with the Illinois released inmates home page.
- For parole or probation, use the state supervision page and the sentencing county's official probation department.
- For a named jail or prison, locate its physical county in the Facility Directory.
- For a state prisoner, use the IDOC offender search, IDOC Record Search contact route, or IDOC FOIA.
